More Than Lawn Care. A Personal Partnership. We Manage Your Turf From the Soil Up.
Flamingo Turf — A Different Approach to Lawn Care
Flamingo Turf was born out of something I like to call “Franchise Fatigue.”
It all started when two neighbors in Summerton Village approached me with a simple request: Could I create a lawn care company that did things a little differently?
They were tired of being just another stop on a route. Tired of technicians showing up, spraying the lawn, leaving a bill, and disappearing without a conversation. And most importantly, tired of being presented with another few hundred dollars in recommended services every time someone visited their property.
They weren’t necessarily looking for the cheapest lawn care company. They were looking for a better experience.
They wanted someone who knew their name. Someone who would take a few minutes to stop and talk, answer questions, and, most importantly, listen to their concerns.
And that’s exactly what I created Flamingo Turf to provide.
Owner-Operated. Personally Accountable.
One of the biggest differences between Flamingo Turf and a traditional lawn care company is simple: I’m not just the owner of the business. I’m the person responsible for managing your lawn.
When you become a Flamingo Turf customer, you’re working directly with me, the owner-operator. I’m personally involved in evaluating your property, developing your treatment program, monitoring your lawn’s progress, and making decisions about what your turf actually needs.
I’m not sitting behind a desk managing a fleet of trucks or sending a different technician to your home every few weeks.
My goal is to build a relationship where you know who’s taking care of your property, you have someone you can reach directly, and you feel comfortable asking questions.
If something concerns you, I want to hear about it. If your lawn isn’t responding the way we expected, I want to understand why. And if there’s an opportunity to improve your turf, I want to explain the reasoning behind my recommendation.
With Flamingo Turf, accountability isn’t passed from one department to another. It starts and ends with me.
A Boutique Approach to Lawn Care
I consider Flamingo Turf a boutique fertilization and weed control company.
That means I’m intentionally building a business around quality, personal relationships, and attention to detail rather than customer volume.
I’ve made the decision to limit Flamingo Turf to just 150 customers. This allows me to personally manage each property, get to know the homeowners, and give every lawn the attention it deserves.
I don’t believe in the traditional spray-and-go approach. I believe in understanding your soil, evaluating your turf, explaining what it needs, and developing a program around those needs.
And unlike companies that seem to have another service to sell you every visit, I believe in keeping things simple, with straightforward pricing and no unnecessary upselling.
If your lawn doesn’t need something, I’d much rather explain why than sell it to you anyway.
Old-School Service. Modern Turf Management.
Maybe I’m a little old-fashioned, but I still believe a handshake means something. I believe in returning phone calls, keeping my word, and treating people like neighbors rather than account numbers.
I combine that old-school approach with modern turf management practices, professional products, precise lawn measurements, and soil testing through Clemson University.
No contracts. No high-pressure sales. No revolving door of technicians.
Just an owner-operator who knows your name, knows your lawn, and genuinely cares about the results.
My philosophy is simple:
Quality products. Fair pricing. Direct communication. Education before sales.
At Flamingo Turf, you’re not just another customer or another address on a route. You’re a partner, and your lawn has my personal attention.
What to Expect During Your Flamingo Turf Consultation
A handshake starts a relationship. A conversation builds trust.
At Flamingo Turf, every price quote is done in person, with at least one homeowner present. I don’t believe in simply emailing you a number and hoping for your business. That’s not how I operate, and it’s certainly not how I want to begin a relationship with a future Flamingo Turf partner.
Let’s Walk and Talk
Our first step is to walk your property together. I want to hear your concerns, understand your goals, and share my thoughts about the overall condition of your lawn.
More importantly, I want us to have a clear understanding of expectations. Beautiful turf doesn’t happen overnight. Weeds don’t disappear the moment they’re sprayed, and I certainly can’t make grass grow where there’s nothing but bare dirt.
My job is to explain what’s possible, what’s realistic, and what it will take to get your lawn where you want it to be. I’d much rather have an honest conversation on day one than make promises I can’t keep.
Measuring Your Turf
Using advanced mapping and measurement technology, I’ll personally walk your property and create a detailed map of your actual treatable turf.
You’re not paying for your entire lot. You’re paying for the turf we’re actually treating.
Once we’ve established your exact square footage, I’ll calculate your personalized Flamingo Application Rate (FAR). This becomes the foundation of our simple, one-price approach to turf care.
Checking Soil Moisture
Healthy turf starts beneath the surface. That’s why we don’t just look at what’s growing above the ground.
I’ll probe approximately 8–10 different areas throughout your lawn, checking soil moisture levels to better understand how well your soil is holding water.
Too little moisture can stress your lawn, while too much can create other problems. Understanding these conditions helps us make better decisions about your turf care.
Measuring Soil Compaction
Just because your lawn looks healthy on the surface doesn’t necessarily mean everything is right underneath.
Using a specialized soil compaction meter, I’ll evaluate how tightly packed your soil is in different areas of your lawn.
Why does this matter? Compacted soil can restrict root growth, limit water movement, and make it harder for oxygen and nutrients to reach the root system.
This evaluation helps us determine whether core aeration may be beneficial or necessary.
At Flamingo Turf, I don’t believe in recommending aeration simply because it’s that time of year. I believe in evaluating your soil and making that decision based on what your lawn actually needs.
A Personalized Soil Test
While evaluating your lawn, I’ll collect soil samples and submit them to Clemson University’s Agricultural Service Laboratory for analysis.
This gives us valuable information about your soil’s pH and nutrient levels, helping us make informed decisions about what your lawn actually needs.
Soil pH is especially important because it affects how well your grass can use the nutrients available in the soil.
At Flamingo Turf, we don’t apply products simply because the calendar says it’s time. We believe in understanding the soil first and treating accordingly.
The Decision Is Yours
If you’re ready to become a Flamingo Turf partner that day, wonderful! I’d be honored to earn your business.
But here’s something you probably won’t hear from many companies: I actually encourage you to talk with my competition.
Get another quote. Ask questions. Compare your options.
I only ask one thing: Don’t compare price alone. Compare the experience.
Compare the communication, the attention to detail, the services included, and most importantly, who will actually be showing up to care for your lawn.
With Flamingo Turf, you’re not getting a different technician every visit. You’re getting me, the owner, the person you met during your consultation, and the person responsible for your turf.
No pressure. No sales pitch. No contracts. Just an honest conversation and, hopefully, a handshake.
Flamingo Turf — Education First. Sales Second. We Manage Your Turf From the Soil Up.
Transparent Pricing. No Guesswork. No Surprises.
At Flamingo Turf, I believe in transparency, fairness, and treating every homeowner the same, regardless of where they live.
I don’t believe in making up prices as I go, and I certainly don’t believe your price should be determined by your neighborhood, the value of your home, or the size of your driveway.
Just because you live on a golf course, behind a gated entrance, or in a million-dollar home doesn’t mean you should pay more for the same service.
My pricing is simple. Your Flamingo Application Rate (FAR) is determined by one thing: the actual square footage of treatable turf on your property.
Using advanced measuring technology, I personally walk and map your lawn to determine exactly how much turf needs treatment. That measurement is then matched to my published pricing chart. No guessing, no negotiating, and no adjusting the price based on what I think you might be willing to pay.
Whether you live in a modest neighborhood or an exclusive golf community, 5,000 square feet of turf is 5,000 square feet of turf. The price is the same.
I believe you deserve to know what you’re paying and how that price was determined before we ever shake hands.
No contracts. No hidden fees. No surprises. Just honest, straightforward pricing.

Understanding Your Soil pH — Why We Test Before We Treat
At Flamingo Turf, we believe in making decisions based on science, not simply following a calendar.
The chart below is used after reviewing your personalized soil test results from Clemson University. It serves as a guide to help us determine whether your lawn would benefit from a lime application.
While soil pH is an important factor, it doesn’t tell the entire story. We also consider Clemson’s lime recommendations and your soil’s ability to maintain a healthy pH.
Our goal isn’t just to correct an existing problem, but to help maintain healthy soil conditions before problems develop.
That’s why Application #1 of our nine-application program is dependent upon your soil test results. If your lawn needs lime, we’ll recommend the appropriate treatment. If it doesn’t, we won’t apply it simply because it’s on the schedule.
At Flamingo Turf, we’d rather tell you what your lawn doesn’t need than sell you something it does not benefit from.
| Soil pH range | Classification | Typical recommendation | What it means for your lawn |
|---|---|---|---|
| Below 5.5 | Very Acidic | Corrective lime likely needed | Soil is too acidic. Lime helps improve nutrient availability and supports healthier grass growth. |
| 5.5 – 5.7 | Acidic | Evaluate corrective lime | Soil is acidic. Lime is often recommended based on soil test results. |
| 5.8 – 5.9 | Slightly Acidic | Consider maintenance lime if soil test recommends | Soil is slightly below our preferred range. A maintenance application may help keep pH from dropping further. |
| 6.0 – 6.1 | Acceptable | Generally skip lime; monitor pH | Good range for Bermuda and Zoysia. Usually no lime needed unless the soil test specifically recommends it. |
| 6.2 – 6.5 | Ideal Range | No lime needed | Optimal pH for Bermuda and Zoysia. Supports strong root growth and nutrient availability. |
| 6.6 – 6.8 | Above Target | No lime needed | pH is above our target range, but usually not a concern. Continue to monitor. |
| Above 6.8 | Elevated | Avoid lime | pH is higher than preferred. Lime is not needed and should be avoided. |
We use both the pH and Clemson’s lime recommendation
Two lawns with the same pH can have very different lime requirements. That’s why we follow Clemson’s soil test recommendations, not just the pH number.
Key points
- Target soil pH for Bermuda and Zoysia: 6.0 – 6.5
- Application #1 in our program is dependent upon the results of a soil test.
- We only apply lime when the soil test shows a need.
- Sandy soils can change pH more easily, so regular testing helps us stay ahead of problems.
Application #1 – Soil Test Review
Your first application will be based on the results of your soil test. If your soil test shows a need for lime, we’ll apply the recommended amount.
